UDHAGAMANDALAM: Commotion prevailed at a popular hotel in the Rose Garden area after a two-foot long snake slithered out of a rather unusual hideout— the handbag of a woman tourist from Mumbai. After visiting Kochi, Kerala, M Monisa from Mumbai, and her husband arrived here on Wednesday night. After completing the sight-seeing tour at Mudumulai, they checked into a hotel at the Queen of Hills, quite unaware of the scare they were to experience.On Thursday, while at the hotel, Monisa opened her handbag, only to see a snake inside. The frightened woman then let out a scream, creating a flutter. Upon getting word, two snake-catchers arrived at the scene and managed to catch the scaled visitor. It is said that the two-foot long ‘wolf’ snake, a non-venomous species, could have slithered into the woman’s handbag while they were touring the resort.Under the supervision of forest officials, the reptile was later released into the Kallhatty forest near here.
