New Delhi: It's been a particularly bad two months as far as rail accidents are concerned. There have been at least six train accidents in the last 60 days.
October 7, 2009: One passenger died and 40 others are injured, including three seriously, when an engine and three bogies of the Amrapali Express derailed near Naugachia in Bhagalpur district.
October 20, 2009: At least ten people were initially feared dead in the incident. This occurred when the Goa Express rammed into the stationary Mewar Express from behind. Both trains were headed for Delhi.
October 23, 2009: Two people were killed after a portion of a water pipeline underneath a pedestrian bridge on the suburban Mulund-Thane route came crashing on a local train. The mishap took place when a part of the under-construction Kopri water pipeline bridge fell on a Kalyan-bound train around 1030 hours, they said.
November 4, 2009: Twelve coaches of a train headed for Mumbai derailed in western Maharashtra state, injuring at least 45 people. Out of the twelve derailed coaches, two completely overturned and were badly damaged in the accident.
November 11, 2009: The train which carried passengers, mostly from Rajasthan and Gujarat, derailed last evening just after it left the Jejuri station on Pune-Miraj section of Central railway.
November 12, 2009: Two commuters were injured when five coaches of a suburban train derailed Friday morning at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, officials said. Five coaches of the CST-Kasara local train which was on the verge of moving out of platform number 6 derailed around 0700 hours (IST) on Friday, a CR spokesman said.
