HYDERABAD: The state unit of the BJP has accused the state government of converting the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) into a political rehabilitation centre for the Congress leaders.Speaking to newsmen here on Saturday, party spokesperson NVSS Prabhakar said that the Congress party was promoting corruption and irregularities even in a religious body like the TTD.He said lot of irregularities and scam have occurred in the TTD Board.Demanding a CBI enquiry into the irregularities, Prabhakar said the government must stop using TTD as a political tool.The state government constituted a Specified Authority for the TTD.However, the same has been scrapped and the TTD board has been revived, he said. He said the Congress government has also reduced the tenure of the TTD board from two years to one year.The BJP spokesman wondered as to what the state government has achieved by constituting the Specified Authority and what prompted it to restore the TTD board.The government must explain as to why it was experimenting with the functioning of a religious body.He said a thorough probe by the CBI would expose the irregularities in the TTD. The state government should give more powers to the Lokayukta, which was constituted to deal with corruption at higher levels.He wanted the state government to bring the chief minister and the council of ministers under the purview of the Lokayukta.
