THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Peroorkada police nabbed two wanted criminals under the Goonda Act on Sunday. The persons were identified as Sreejith Ramaswamy, alias Ponchan Unni, 24, of Aduppukoottanpara, near Peroorkada, and Satheesan, alias Kulathil Satheesan, 32, of Mannammoola. They were arrested following a directive of the District Collector. The police said that both the arrested were accused in several criminal cases, including crimes such as waylaying police officers. Sreejith Ramaswamy is the son of Ramaswamy, a notorious ganja peddler whose name is also in the wanted list of the police. Both of the arrested were among the miscreants who had unleashed terror in Peroorkada region by vandalising vehicles parked along the Ambalamukku Abhaya Nagar road during night and also damaging the gates of houses in the area last April. They were arrested by the police the next day itself and let off on bail. Satheesan, besides being a henchman, is notorious for carrying out thefts and housebreaks. His most notorious theft being lifting construction materials worth lakhs of rupees from the Civil Station premises at Kudappanakkunnu. They were arrested by a team of police led by Peroorkada Cantonment Assistant Commissioner Haridas and Circle Inspector V Jayachandran separately from their hideouts. They are currently detained at the Central Prison at Poojappura.
