Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government has decided to rename Uttar Pradesh Technical university(UPTU) to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University as a tribute to the former president. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav tweeted saying that as a tribute to Dr. Kalam, UPTU will be renamed as Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University.""
Dr. Kalam had collapsed while delivering a lecture at IIM Shillong and was declared brought dead by a local hospital. His last rites took place on Friday at Rameshwaram where thousands thronged to pay respect.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress Vice President were also president while the last rites were performed.
