A distressing incident unfolded at a private college in Andhra Pradesh’s Narasaraopet where a video of students assaulting their juniors went viral, sparking an immediate police response.
The now-viral video, which was recorded in February, showed some seniors brutally beating juniors with wooden sticks under the pretence of NCC training as the victim asked them to stop.
The clip is believed to have been recorded at Sri Subbaraya and Narayana College’s hostel.

The shocking footage showed some boys, apparently seniors, laughing and goading each other on as the juniors, pleading for mercy, endured the assault with sticks.
Soon after the video went viral, the police initiated an investigation into the ragging incident, registering a case under the Prohibition of Ragging Act.
The incident, dated February 2 of the same year, involved students who have since graduated, as confirmed by CI Chintala Krishna Reddy of One Town Police Station, India Today reported.
Reddy emphasised the severity of ragging as a punishable offence and assured that strict actions would be taken against the perpetrators.
“We have registered a case against the students involved and will take stern action against them,” Reddy told the publication.
In response to the incident, the YSR Congress Party shared the video, criticising the Chandrababu Naidu-led government for the state’s law and order situation and demanding strict action against the accused.
