Vigilance case against ex-Planning Board member

The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) filed an FIR  with P V Unnikrishnan, former Executive Mission Director, Information Kerala Mission (IKM) and Planning Board former member, as the first accused in the Vigilance court here on Friday.

The case against Unnikrishan and four other former officials of the IKM is that they had conspired together in subscribing a website called ‘garner’ for IKM without obtaining government sanction at a cost of $ 41,000 (Rs 35.5 lakh) for a period of two years.

Besides Unnikrishnan, the others named in the FIR are second accused K  Premkumar, Director Technical, IKM; third accused Rajan Nair, former additional director, IKM; fourth accused M K Prasad, former Executive Chairman and Director IKM and fifth accused Umeshan M, former Deputy Director IKM.

The Vigilance investigated the case on a complaint filed by P C George MLA.

It has been stated in the FIR that all the five had entered into a criminal conspiracy to subscribe the website for IKM without following the  official formalities and without obtaining the required sanction from the government thereby causing loss to the exchequer.
