Waghmare withdraws, won't fight Kasab's case

Mumbai: Anjali Waghmare, the lawyer appointed by a special court for 26/11 accused Mohd Ajmal Kasab, withdrew from the case on Monday night.

Waghmare said she was taking the step keeping in mind public sentiment. The statement came minutes after suspected Shiv Sena activists attacked her residence and shouted slogans.

Nearly 50 protestors gathered outside her Worli house and began pelting stones around 2345 hrs IST, police said.

Two police vans were rushed to the spot to disperse the crowd, police said. Waghmare has also been given a security cover.
