THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Opposition on Thursday staged a walkout in the Assembly over the denial of permission for an adjournment motion on the allegation that the investigation into the suicide of two girls in Kozhikode in 1996 was sabotaged.Moving a notice seeking leave for the adjournment motion, K K Lathika said that Assistant Commissioner of Police Radhakrishna Pillai submitted a report saying that there was no scope for a re-investigation in the case with the intention of sabotaging the ice cream parlour case. Replying to the Opposition demand, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said  that the case was not related to the ice cream parlour case and that the investigation officer of the case was Jaison Abraham.Chandy said that Radhakrishna Pillai did not investigate the case and he had only submitted the investigation report to the court with his covering letter. He said that the probe had found that no further investigation was needed  in the case and it was clear case of suicide.Chandy said that the suicides happened in 1996 and the LDF ruled the state for nine years after that and it failed to produce any evidence to connect the suicides with the ice cream parlor case. Post-mortem of one of the bodies showed that there was no proof of sexual harassment and the other body was so mutilated  that an autopsy could not be conducted, he said.
