Watch: PM Modi Serves Langar At Patna Sahib Gurdwara, Says 'Seva' Is Central To Sikhism

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Takhat Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib in Bihar’s Patna on Monday. Upon visiting the the holy place, the Prime Minister served langar for people.

Ahead of his visit, elaborate security arrangements were put in place.

The Prime Minister paid his obeisance in Darbar Sahib, which is the birthplace of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He joined Ardaas and listened to Live Kirtan there as well. During his visit, PM also did Darshan of the rare `shastras’ (weapons) used by Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji.

Takhat Sri Patna Sahib also known as Takhat Sri Harimandir Ji, Patna Sahib, is one of the five takhats of the Sikhs and is located in Bihar’s capital.

The construction of the takhat was commissioned by Maharaja Ranjit Singh in the 18th century to mark the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh. Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru, was born in Patna, in 1666. He also spent his early years here before moving to Anandpur Sahib.

As a part of his visit, the Prime Minister did seva of Chaur Sahib and sat in Paath for “Sarbat Da Bhala”

He also took “karah prasad” and paid through digital payment mode for the same.

The Prime Minister took to X and shared snippets from his visit to Patna Sahib. He wrote, “Sikhism is rooted in the principles of equality, justice and compassion. Central to Sikhism is Seva. This morning in Patna, I also had the honour of taking part in Seva as well. It was a very humbling and special experience.”

PM Modi’s visit to Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib came a day after his roadshow in the state capital. Modi became the first prime minister to have held a roadshow anywhere in Bihar.

The PM is scheduled to address election rallies in favour of NDA nominees in Hajipur, Muzaffarpur and Saran on Monday.
