KOZHIKODE: What started with a random forwarded email around five years ago, has now turned into an enterprise for Sreelakshmi Suresh. The CEO of eDesign will soon launch a website that encompasses information on all the educational courses available in the state.Sreelakshmi, a Class IX student at the Presentation School Kozhikode, has already designed almost 60 websites and the educational website - Kerala Learning  -  is her latest endeavour. She hopes that the website will act as a reference point for all the students.“I believe this educational website will act as a very handy career guidance system with which students can easily access and understand their options in education,” said Sreelakshmi.She started designing websites after her father Suresh Menon showed her an email which he received. The email had the story of a young boy who started creating websites at a very young age. He also showed her a couple of tools for designing website. From then, it was a stead fast climb for Sreelakshmi. She has already given demo classes and conducted tours in more than 10 engineering colleges of South India. Her name has appeared in the media worldwide. She was also a delegate at the CII Women Meet at Cochin that happened a couple of weeks ago.“I have come out of using templates for designing web pages. Now I use the much advanced techniques to design web pages. I use Flash content in most of the websites I design,” she added. Sreelakshmi has designed web pages for many organisations and business firms including the Kozhikode District Association of Deaf and Cybrosys Technologies among many others. At present, she is working on websites for various companies that are situated in the US and Kuwait.When asked how the 14-year-old girl manages her job along with her studies, she said, “I always do my school first and then spend time for my work. I want to become a successful web designer. I have not undergone any formal education as such for designing the websites. So I will complete my formal education and then concentrate more on my work.” The little entrepreneur wants to diversify the activities of her company and make a space for herself in the industry.
