KOCHI: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Saturday said that all those behind the murder of Revolutionary Marxist Party leader T P Chandrasekharan will be brought before the law.“The law will take its own course. The government will not yield to any threat or pressure. We are not for saving or punishing anyone who is involved in the murder,” he said after inaugurating the Congress House at Vyttila. While making it clear that the government did not want to interfere with the ongoing probe, Chandy said that everyone has to co-operate with the investigation.Lashing out at the CPM for accusing the government of exerting pressure on the police investigation team with the motive of putting the party in the dock, Chandy said “The Congress does not wish to make any political gain out of the murder. Moreover, trapping innocent people in criminal cases is not Congress’ tradition. There is no need for the party to win a by-election by killing anyone,” he said.Alleging that the CPM could not even convince its own members in the TP murder, Chandy said that the party had moved far away from the people. “A leader has been murdered for having a different political opinion. The CPM leaders are making statements as if they have gone out of their minds,” he said. He said that the murder took place at a time when the state was having many investment opportunities. “Law and order and peace are prerequisites for the development of a state. Jammu & Kashmir, which has vast tourism potential, has not made much strides as there is no peace in the state,” he said.Chandy said the UDF government had the support of the people, as evident from the Piravom bypoll victory. “When the government was formed, many had raised doubts regarding the narrow margin of majority. But performances make a big difference. The government has come up with many developmental programmes which the people have accepted,” he said.
