Where looks matter: A job website exclusive to 'beautiful people'
Controversial dating website BeautifulPeople.com is now expanding its scope of business to include a recruitment service.

New Delhi: No vacancy for Plain Janes and Average Joes. BeautifulPeople.com, the controversial dating website meant exclusively for 'beautiful people', is now expanding its scope of business to include a recruitment service.

Quite like its parent website, the BeautifulPeople Recruitment service is open only to those potential users whom other members of the service vote as beautiful and therefore, according to the website's rules, worthy of joining the site.

"An attractive face is always a great first impression for any business," says the website. To attract recruiters the company claims that "numerous studies have shown that consumers tend to respond more positively and are more receptive to attractive people," and says that recruiting from the BeautifulPeople service will give employers "the added bonus that they all look fantastic."

This might sound discriminatory, but this has been the USP of the website since it went online in 2002. The website had also launched, in 2010, a virtual sperm and egg bank for people who want to have beautiful babies. But the offering didn't seem to find many takes as the current website has no mention of the service.

Will BeautifulPeople.com's job service also meet the same fate as its sperm bank?

What's your reaction?
