Will SRK's Don go up in smoke?
Farhan Akhtar’s much awaited SRK starrer Don seems to have touched a wrong chord the Union Health Minister.

Mumbai: Director Farhan Akhtar’s upcoming film Don is up for trouble.

While the much-awaited remake of the 70’s Don has been in the news for all the right reasons these days, it seems to have touched a wrong chord with Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss, even before its release.

India made a record last year by becoming the first country to ban all smoking scenes in films and television.

While the audience is clearly anxious to see how Shah Rukh Khan pulls off the 'Don' act, Ramadoss is reportedly displeased with the fact that the lead character in the movie is allegedly glamourising smoking in the film.

Ramadoss' contention, however, seems to be based solely on the promos of the film as he has not seen the movie as yet.

According to media reports the film's producer, Ritesh Sidhwani, has defended the film saying that no law had been violated and the promos of the movie had been cleared by the Censor Board before being aired.

Farhan Akhtar is also reportedly upset with what he calls 'misinterpretation' of the smoking scenes in the movie. Sources say Shah Rukh Khan's character in the film was, in fact, against smoking and there is a dialogue in the movie which indicates that the actor denounces the act of smoking.

Reports say Don went into production just after the health ministry had issued a notification banning smoking in films and the producers had taken enough care that the issue of smoking didn't hamper the making of the film.

Don, slated for release on October 20, sees Shah Rukh Khan play a double role of Don and of the cop out to get him. Giving him company are Arjun Rampal and Priyanka Chopra.

Rumours about the climax of the movie have also generated considerable excitement and the grapevine is abuzz that Farhan has filmed two endings for the film.

In both the versions, sources say, the good and the bad meet, hence making two climaxes possible — one where the good one is killed, and the other where the bad one is killed.

What's your reaction?
