MANGALORE: During an identification parade held in the district jail, the witness had correctly identified the accused among eight men as Mohan Kumar, informed Mangalore tahsildar Ravichandra Nayak testifying on the sixth day of the trial into the ‘Cyanide’ Mohan Kumar case.Nayak, who earlier served as Bantwal tahsildar, deposing before the court on Saturday informed that due to many factors, the identification parade had been postponed twice and was finally held on May 19, 2010. Utmost secrecy was ensured and witness Eshwar Bhat correctly identified the second man from the left as Mohan Kumar, he informed.During cross examination by Mohan Kumar, Ravichandra Nayak said that the witness had identified the accused for the first time during the identification parade and was never shown any photographs of the accused. As many as four witnesses, including Nemiraj Rai, Kerikar higher primary school headmistress Pushpakumari, block education officers Sesha Shayana and K K Puttuswamy testified that rubber seals recovered from the possession of Mohan Kumar were not authentic. Bantwal block education officer Sudhakar submitted an original copy of the disciplinary action initiated against Mohan Kumar following his prolonged absence at his work place. ‘Avail citations, books from court library’ The Fast Track Court Judge Ninganagouda Jantli offered to write to the district jail authorities, court library and Mangalore Bar Association to help the accused access legal books to fight the case. The Judge also said that if books, or previous Supreme Court judgments required by the accused were not available in these libraries, he would get them from other judges.
