THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: To commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Day on October 22, the Regional Cancer Centre is organising a one-day workshop for doctors from Kerala Government Health Service. The month of October is being celebrated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.The one-day workshop is to train doctors from health services for training their health care professionals for this early detection drive. Expert faculty from RCC will take classes for doctors. October 22 is celebrated worldwide as “Pink Ribbon day”.Pink ribbon is considered as symbol of Breast Cancer awareness. According to Trivandrum Cancer Registry, Breast Cancer is the leading cancer in women and the incidence of new cases per year is around 33 cases/100,000 women in Thiruvananthapuram and 27/ 100,000 in Kollam districts.The one-day workshop is being arranged for doctors from Trivandrum and Kollam Districts.
