San Francisco: The US Internet search engine Yahoo! has made a deal with the television network CBS to put the popular news program 60 Minutes online, the companies announced on Thursday.
"This deal with Yahoo! will bring the rich storytelling of television's number one news magazine to a new and younger audience while offering loyal viewers extended features and content online," said Sean McManus, president of CBS News and Sports.
"We believe this is an important step toward establishing 60 Minutes as the news magazine of the future."
Yahoo! will preview the service on Sunday with presentation of a 60 Minutes interview with golf star Tiger Woods, according to the Sunnyvale, California-based company.
The television news magazine will become a staple at Yahoo!'s website after it launches its 39th season in the fall of this year, the companies said in a written release.
Yahoo!'s site will include unaired 60 Minutes video footage, as well as interactive maps, a reporter's notebook, blogs and photo galleries. Video content from the 60 Minutes archives will also be available online, Yahoo! said.
The announcement comes as US television networks search for ways to gain a foothold among young audiences amid declining ratings.
