BANGALORE: In an effort to bridge the gap between education and industry, the Manipal Global Education Services in association with Axis Bank launched the ‘Young Bankers’ programme. Inaugurating the campus premises at the Manipal University in Hegdenagar, Rajesh Dahiya, president and head - Human Resources, Axis Bank and S Vaitheeswaran, Chief Operating Officer, Manipal Global Education Services, said that only 120 students have been taken on board for the Diploma in Banking Services. Each year around eight to 12 per cent graduates from the country enter the banking sector. While the industry had been focusing only on post-graduates for employment till the last three years, now the focus has shifted towards employing graduates too.Upon completion of the programme, the students will be awarded with a post-graduate diploma in Banking Services by the Manipal University and will be absorbed in the Assistant Manager grade by Axis Bank. Students wishing to enrol have to score above 55 per cent marks. The fee structure of the course is `3 lakh. The course will entail on-campus training for the first nine months, followed by three months of internship at Axis Bank. Students will get `3,000 monthly stipend .
