Pakistan registered a thumping 7-wicket win over Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Tuesday to pick up their third win of the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup 2023 and rise to fifth position in the rankings table.
Pakistan bundled out the Bangla Tigers for a score of 209 runs in 45.1 overs, before achieving the target in 32.2 overs with seven wickets to spare. Pakistan openers Abdullah Shafique and Fakhar Zaman registered a half-ton each to aid their side to victory.
The loss was Bangladesh’s sixth defeat in seven games at the showpiece event in India, with their only win to date coming against Afghanistan.

South African opener Quinton de Kock stands atop the run-getters rankings at the ICC spectacle in India with 431 runs to his name in six innings.
Australian left-handed batsman David Warner comes in second on the list having amassed 413 runs at the blue ribbon event.
New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra, who has been a revelation at the 50-over tournament stands third on the rankings with 406 runs off his willow.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who has tallied 398 runs at the event comes in fourth, followed by Mohammed Rizwan of Pakistan in position number five with 358 runs off his bat.
Golden Ball:
Pakistani pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi climbed to the top of the wicket-takers rankings with three scalps against Bangladesh on Tuesday as he extended his tally to 16 wickets in the campaign.
Australia spinner Adam Zampa, who also has 16 wickets to his credit, comes in second, ahead of Kiwi turner Mitchell Santner. The New Zealand bowler has dismissed 14 batsmen and sits third in the table.
Team India seamer Jasprit Bumrah has also removed 14 batsmen in the tournament and comes in fourth, followed by fifth-placed Dilshan Madhushanka of Sri Lanka, who has 13 scalps to his name.
Pakistan are scheduled to take on New Zealand on the 4th of November in their next fixture, while Bangladesh will face off against Sri Lanka on the 6th of November.
