South Korean actor and singer Kim Yoon-hwan, better known as Kang Tae Oh has completed his mandatory military service and has been discharged now. He served as an active-duty soldier for about one year and six months, starting in September 2022. Upon his return, Kang Tae Oh expressed his gratitude, saying, “I enlisted after receiving great love from everyone after wrapping up ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo.’ I faced the end of my 20s and the start of my 30s in the military, and it was a meaningful time during which I fixed my bad habits and earned only good things.”
Looking ahead, Kang Tae Oh added, “I will work to impress with great projects going forward, so please show lots of anticipation and love.”
During his military service, Kang Tae Oh participated in various activities. He read the memorandum at last year’s memorial service on Hyeonchungil (Memorial Day in South Korea) and served as an assistant instructor for the Recruit Training Center, informs Soompi.
Now that he has completed his military service, Kang Tae Oh is preparing to return to the small screen. Reports suggest that he is considering a role in the upcoming romantic comedy-drama titled Potato Research Institute. His agency, Man of Creation, confirmed the news saying, “Potato Research Institute is a project that Kang Tae Oh is currently positively considering,” as per Soompi.
Potato Research Institute is an upcoming Korean drama set in a rural potato research institute and promises to deliver a mix of romance and comedy. Kang Tae Oh is reportedly being considered for the lead role, which features a character with a striking appearance, an outsider persona, and an unexpected charm. The series reunites the creative team behind Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung, with writer Kim Ho Soo and director Kang Il Soo collaborating once again.
The drama, Potato Research Institute is expected to air in the latter half of 2024 or possibly in 2025.
Kang Tae Oh, 29, was initially a member of the actor group 5urprise. Later on, he gained recognition and international acclaim for his leading role in the television series Extraordinary Attorney Woo.
