Parasite Actor Lee Sun-kyun's Father Passes Away

After Lee Sun-kyun’s death, another tragedy has hit the family as the father of the late actor has now passed away. While the reasons behind his sudden demise are yet to be revealed, this comes at a time when the late actor’s family is still trying to come to terms with Sun Kyun’s death and the legal challenges. According to an allkpop report, Lee Sun Kyun’s father’s death has left a deep sense of sorrow among his close ones, including the actor’s wife, Jeon Hye Jin.

Lee Sun Kyun’s Death And Legal Issues

The Parasite actor had been subjected to serious legal issues in October 2023 regarding drug use, which resulted in multiple police summonses.

It was on 27 December 2023 when the actor’s body was discovered dead in his car in Waryong Park in Seoul. According to the Korean media, the 48-year-old Lee died by apparent suicide. The police officials also responded to an emergency call from the actor’s wife, who stated that her husband left home with a note indicating suicidal intentions.

It is said that Lee had been under intense pressure since the drug case was being investigated. He not only faced vast public scrutiny amid the case but also withdrew from many of his upcoming projects.

Concerning the drug case, the situation for the actor remained uncertain. However, a detailed analysis by the National Institute of Forensic Science, following a simple reagent test, confirmed the absence of drugs in his system. Lee was subjected to investigations three times, with the last one lasting 19 hours, just three days before his death. Following his death, many, including leading industry professionals, called for a thorough probe into the police investigations.

As far as the investigations are concerned, a senior officer of the Incheon Metropolitan Police has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of leaking information. The official is suspected of leaking documents regarding the investigation to outside sources.

The renowned South Korean actor is known for his roles in the Academy Award-winning film Parasite, followed by other films like Sleep, Coffee Prince, and A Hard Day.
