At the recent LFW x FDCI event, homegrown menswear brand Tisa Studio unveiled their latest sustainable festive collection, aptly named Nara. Drawing inspiration from the serene city of Kyoto, Japan, the collection masterfully blends Japanese and Indian artistry, creating a unique cultural fusion.
The color palette reflects Kyoto’s tranquil natural surroundings, featuring earthy tones such as olive green, beige, muted grey, and blue. What sets this collection apart is its intricate detailing—bright orange twill tape, screen-printed Japanese floral motifs, and hand-embroidered Akizakura, the Autumn cherry blossom, along with foliage of Fall leaves, all contribute to the rich and delicate embroidery work. The garments also incorporate Shibori tie-dye techniques, adding visual intrigue, while Devanagari brass buttons lend a distinct Indian touch.
The silhouettes in Nara are as versatile as they are stylish, offering relaxed jackets and adaptable trousers. Timir Savla and Samira Lavekar, founders and designers have beautifully captured the essence of both Japanese and Indian traditions in this innovative collection. In a candid chat, we understand their vision for the brand
