Anurag Kashyap Says He Loves Talking To Sandeep Reddy Vanga: 'A Lot Of People In The Industry Are Toxic'
Anurag Kashyap had earlier said that Sandeep Reddy Vanga is the 'most misunderstood filmmaker'.

Anurag Kashyap always speaks his mind about movies and storytelling. He’s famous for supporting indie films and artistry. Recently, he called out the fake behaviour in Bollywood. In an interview with Zoom TV, he explained why he defended Sandeep Reddy Vanga and criticised the “toxicity” in the industry. Anurag said, “I like the guy (Sandeep). I have no problem with him.” He continued, “Unlike a lot of people in the industry who pretend to be someone they are not, he is honest. The former kind, I think, is even more toxic. But Vanga is an honest man. I don’t like anything more than honesty, no matter what others’ issues with honesty are. I love talking to him.”

Recently, Aaliyah Kashyap interviewed her father, for her podcast Young, Dumb & Anxious. She asked him why he supported Sandeep despite criticism, as she personally didn’t like his film Animal. Aaliyah said, “The caption of the post where you were promoting the guy which I was not very happy about. I actually saw Animal and called you immediately and ranted, ‘What a horrible, misogynistic movie it is and how much I hated it,’ and you agreed with me. A week later when I opened Instagram, I saw a post from my father, promoting a man I was b*tching about.”

Anurag explained, “I met him (Sandeep) and I liked him. I like the guy. I’ve had questions of my own and I wanted to talk to him about his film (Animal) and I invited him and I had a long five-hour conversation and I like the guy… I always believe in talking to people. I was cancelled after Dev D (2009) by a lot of people for making a ‘misogynistic’ film… I have often seen people isolating someone, attacking someone and that is not the way to be.”

Anurag Kashyap is known for films and web series like Black Friday, Dev D, No Smoking, Gulaal, Gangs of Wasseypur, Mukkabaaz, Sacred Games, and Manmarziyaan. His upcoming film, Kennedy was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023. The film stars Sunny Leone, Rahul Bhat and Abhilash Thapliyal among others in key roles. Kennedy will be released in Indian theatres later this year.
