An icon of India, Ratan Tata passed away on Wednesday night. Anushka Sharma paid her tribute to him.

Anushka Sharma mourned the demise of visionary businessman and Indian icon, Ratan Tata. He died on Wednesday night, after he was hospitalised on Monday and was in critical condition in the intensive care unit. The news of his death has shocked everyone, including Anushka. The actress took to her social media platforms, X and Instagram, to pay tribute to him.

She admitted she was ‘deeply saddened’ by the news of his death and called him the ‘Taj of India.’ Anushka said, “Deeply saddened by the tragic news of Shri Ratan Tata. He upheld the values of integrity, grace, dignity through everything he did and was truly an icon and Taj of India. RIP Sir , You have touched so many lives .”

A business titan, Ratan Tata passed away at the age of 86. He was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on Monday due to a sudden drop in blood pressure. He was in critical condition in the intensive care unit before he took his last breath.

Following his death, the Tata family shared a statement on social media, remembering his legacy. “We, his brothers, sisters and family, take solace and comfort in the outpouring of love and respect from all who admired him. While he is no longer with us in person, his legacy of humility, generosity, and purpose will continue to inspire future generations,” the statement read.

Ratan Tata, the former chairman of the Tata Sons, revolutionalised the company during the 1990s and 2000s. In the process, he also ensured that he puts in time in philanthropic work, which made him a people’s favourite. Following his death, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X to share a picture with him and pen a tribute.

He wrote, “Shri Ratan Tata Ji was a visionary business leader, a compassionate soul and an extraordinary human being. He provided stable leadership to one of India’s oldest and most prestigious business houses. At the same time, his contribution went far beyond the boardroom. He endeared himself to several people thanks to his humility, kindness and an unwavering commitment to making our society better.”

Several Bollywood stars such as Priyanka Chopra, Arjun Kapoor, Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty remembered him as well.

The funeral will take place on Thursday, October 10, in Mumbai. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde shared the last rites of Ratan Tata will be performed with full state honours.
