When it’s a Majid Majidi film, the expectations of an audience automatically gets high. He has brilliantly tapped into the depicting of human emotions on screen- be it Children of Heaven or Beyond the Clouds, which had its South Asian premiere at the 48th International film festival of India on Monday.
However, what caught everyone’s attention was the performance of the film’s leading man- Ishaan Khatter. The film, which revolves around the adoration of love, life and human relationships between a brother and sister, marks the official debut of Ishaan into the world of cinema. Not only did the film receive standing ovation at the premiere but also left the audience in awe of Ishaan’s acting.
One such is Bareilly ki Barfi director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, who thinks Ishaan is a star in the making. Tiwari was impressed with Ishaan to such an extent that she said she’d love to collaborate with him in future. “Ishaan is fabulous. He’s soon going to do something really good. I think he’s the one we need to watch out for. I really have a huge hopes from him and I would love to work with him if I’d get a chance in the future,” Tiwari told News18 after attending the premiere of Beyond the Clouds.
Talking about the film, Tiwari said, “It’s a typical Majid Majidi film which has a lot of symbolism, metaphors of life and shadow play. It’s not a one time watch. It’s like a repeated watch to understand each and every moment and to know what’s the emotion going on behind each scene.”
Meanwhile, Majidi, who walked the red carpet along with his film’s cast at the festival, said artistes should never stop experimenting and creating new things no matter how adverse the situation gets. “Artistes often faces such situations because of the desire they have and such things happen with filmmakers as well. But they should not stop innovation in their work,” said Majidi when asked about Iranian directors making the best of world cinema despite facing a lot of difficult situations.
