Brad Pitt and George Clooney reunited after 16 long years for Jon Watts’s new action-comedy Wolfs. The film also had a star-studded premiere at the Venice Film Festival with the two megastars in attendance. While it is already receiving a lot of praise from audiences and critics, Wolfs has now become the most expensive TV film ever made. According to a Daily Mail report, Pitt and Clooney were paid $35 million each, and they had insisted on a theatrical release.

“Makers (Apple) had a change of heart, and the film, which insiders say cost up to $200 million all in, is now only being released in cinemas in the US for one week,” the report added. In all other areas, it will be going straight for an OTT release, which makes it the most expensive film. The decision comes on the heels of other expensive films made by the streamer, including Napoleon, Killers of the Flower Moon and Argylle, all of which didn’t perform well in cinema halls.
On the other hand, George Clooney denied being paid as high as $35 million, stating that the true figure was “many many millions below.” “We would have liked that; we wanted that, and Brad and I gave some of our salary back to do that. We have had some bumps along the way, and that happens. It’s a bummer, of course it’s a bummer, but a lot of people are going to see the film, and we are getting a release in a few hundred theatres. It would have been nice to get a wider release,” he added. The War Machine star also chimed in and shared that the existence of streamers helps to show more talent and is seen by more eyes.

Wolds Receive Standing Ovation
At its Venice premiere in the Sala Grande, Wolfs received a four-minute standing ovation on Sunday night, leaving the actors elated. The actors greeted the excited crowd, signed autographs and took selfies, stated Variety.
Directed by Spider-Man helmer Jon Watts, the Apple Original Films’ action-comedy will be released in theatres for a limited time starting September 20. It will debut on Apple TV+ on September 27.
