Daniel Craig Debuts New Look at Venice Film Festival, Talks 'Queer' Sex Scenes: 'We Wanted to...'
Daniel Craig turned heads with his new long hair at the Venice Film Festival, sparking buzz about his look. Fans had mixed reactions, comparing him to other stars.

Daniel Craig’s new hairstyle is turning heads! The Casino Royale star looked nearly unrecognisable at the Venice International Film Festival on Sunday. The 56-year-old actor, best known for his role as James Bond, stepped out alongside his wife, Rachel Weisz, sporting long brown hair with striking silver strands. Fans are still buzzing about his surprising look.

Craig’s hairstyle quickly became a trending topic on social media, with fans and followers debating his transformation. Some joked about his resemblance to other celebrities, with one user on X (formerly Twitter) saying, “That’s Paul McCartney,” while another compared him to Frank Gallagher, the character played by William H Macy on Shameless.

For the premiere of Queer, Craig was joined by the film’s director, Luca Guadagnino, and his co-stars, including Drew Starkey, Jason Schwartzman, Lesley Manville and Omar Apollo. While Craig’s appearance was meant to support his new film, it was his fresh hairstyle that captured most of the attention.

A video of acclaimed director Pedro Almodóvar hugging Luca Guadagnino and Daniel Craig during the film’s 9-minute standing ovation at the festival also went viral.

During the film’s press conference, Daniel Craig spoke candidly about filming sex scenes for Queer. He described working with co-star Drew Starkey, emphasising their effort to make the scenes natural and enjoyable. “You know as well as I do, there’s nothing intimate about filming a sex scene on a movie set. There’s a room full of people watching you,” Craig noted. “We just wanted to make it as touching and as real and as natural as we possibly could. Drew is a wonderful, fantastic, beautiful actor to work with, and we kind of had a laugh. We tried to make it fun.”

Queer, based on the novel by William S. Burroughs, is set in 1950s Mexico City. It follows Lee (played by Craig), an American expat living in solitude, whose life changes after meeting a young student named Eugene Allerton (played by Starkey). This encounter sparks a journey of self-discovery and a chance at an intimate connection.

Craig, who retired from playing James Bond after No Time to Die in 2021, continues to surprise audiences with his versatile roles and unexpected transformations.
