HYDERABAD:  The Censor Board authorities on Wednesday stalled the screening of Raviteja starrer ‘Veera’ at Odeon Theatre in the city after they discovered that the movie was being screened with some objectionable scenes and some additional scenes without taking prior permission from the Censor Board. The authorities seized the reels containing the objectionable scenes and directed for closure of the cinema hall to prevent further screening of the movie. A complaint was lodged with the police for further investigation.According to the Regional Censor Board officer Dhanalaxmi, the Board suggested some cuts in the movie while issuing the censor certification. But, the Board received information that the movie was being screened without the cuts. After watching the movie at Odeon Theatre, the Censor Board members found that six objectionable scenes which were originally cut from the movie in addition to some new scenes including the visuals of a snake were screened during the movie. “The producer added certain scenes to the movie after obtaining the censor certification which includes the visuals of a snake that requires permission from the Animal Welfare Board of India. Hence, we seized the reels containing the objectionable visuals and stalled all the shows,” said the Censor Board officer. The authorities are investigating whether the objectionable visuals were screened elsewhere in the state and are likely to stop screening of the movie across the state if found guilty.
