The police team probing the Renukaswamy murder case, in which leading Kannada film actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and his actress friend Pavithra Gowda are the key accused, seized a car on Sunday that was allegedly used in kidnapping the victim. And now, the Kamakshipalya police, investigating the kidnap and murder of Renukaswamy, recovered footwear belonging to Pavithra Gowda, from her house in Kenchenahalli, Rajarajeshwari Nagar on Sunday. Darshan, Pavithra, and his associates are among the 17 people arrested for the murder of Renukaswamy, who had allegedly posted obscene content about her.
“As per the confession of the accused persons, Pavithra was the first one to assault Renukaswamy with her footwear before others subjected him to brutality at a seized-vehicle parking yard in Pattanagere, Rajarajeshwari Nagar, where he was held captive on June 8,” a cop said, as per TOI.
Police also recovered the clothes Pavithra wore on the day of the incident during a search at her three-story building. Pavithra used the top two floors while renting out the ground floor to another accused, Pavan K. The three-hour search also included Pavan’s residence.
Police also conducted searches at the homes of other accused individuals, including Vinay in Pattanagere and Deepak in BEML Layout, RR Nagar. Vinay’s house is next to the owner of the parking yard, and police seized his clothes and other evidence. A senior officer mentioned that Vinay was involved in the assault and body disposal. Deepak was taken to his aunt’s house, where he bathed after the crime. Police seized his clothes and footwear as well.
Four accused were taken to Chitradurga for an inquest on Saturday. One accused, Arun Kumar, attended his father’s funeral, who died after Arun’s arrest. A search was conducted at Arun Kumar’s house, and the team visited the home of suspect Raghavendra in Chitradurga, seizing Rs 5 lakh in cash and gold. Officials also seized a taxi driver Ravi Shankar’s car, allegedly used in the kidnapping. Additionally, they recovered Renukaswamy’s clothes from a Pattanagere location, where his body was dumped.
