EXO's Baekhyun Donates 50 Million Won To National Museum Of Korea
EXO’s Baekhyun donated an impressive 50 million won for the maintenance and preservation of relics at the National Museum of Korea.

EXO’s Baekhyun is in the spotlight not just for his recent musical comeback but also for his philanthropic work. After the release of his mini album Hello, World and the hit music video of Pineapple Slice, which has been breaking records, fans are now celebrating his kindness. While the K-pop sensation attended the 50th anniversary ceremony of the Friends of National Museum of Korea (FNMK), it was revealed that Baekhyun had donated 50 million won (approximately Rs 31 lakh) for the museum. Although he made this donation back in January, it only caught public attention during his recent appearance at the FNMK event.

As per the organisation, his charitable act will help maintain the museum’s exhibitions and preserve relics. On the other hand, Baekhyun’s donation will also help in bringing back the Korean artifacts that are currently overseas. According to Korea JoongAng Daily, the singer in a statement said, “I hope that the National Museum of Korea will be able to have a better exhibition environment and that our artifacts can fully return to their original place so that it can be shown to more people.”

Earlier this month, Baekhyun released the music video of Pineapple Slice, which is part of his fourth solo mini album, Hello, World. In the video, he shows his impressive superpowers that allow him to manipulate objects around him. According to The Statesman, both the album and the title track reached the number one spot on the iTunes Chart. On the other hand, the Korean artist has now become the best selling K-pop artist of 2024, surpassing BTS member Jimin’s album, MUSE. Other than Pineapple Slice, the album also includes other catchy tracks such as Good Morning, Rendez-Vous, Cold Heart, Woo and Truth Be Told.

Speaking about his latest album, Baekhyun in a conversation with Dazed Digital said, “Hello, World is being released after quite a long break, so I wanted to reintroduce myself to the fans and to the public. This album was special to me because I was able to participate very early in the planning stages, so I learned a lot. Since this is my first album in quite a while, I thought ‘Oh, I don’t want to look like I’m in my thirties’. I was thinking that my past songs and albums had a visual concept but maybe not so much of a core concept. For this album, I really wanted a strong core concept that could lead to more exploration of ideas. I wanted to show in this album a world where my imagination becomes reality.”

Baekhyun’s previous albums include, City Lights, Delight and Bambi.
