Director Selvaraghavan is known for making romantic dramas and experimental Tamil and Telugu films. Apart from being a critically acclaimed director, Selvaraghavan often preaches life lessons through his videos on social media. Recently, he shared a video on Instagram, in which he says that thinking about the past is the prime reason for losing peace in life. He says that memories of the past rob the people of their happiness. Selvaraghavan asks people to focus on the present. The video has gone viral now. In the clip, he says we waste most of our time thinking about our past. It yields no result but rather disturbs the peace of mind, he added.
Selvaraghavan is quite active on social media. His writings on the philosophy of life have been well-received by the viewers. “Whenever you have memories of the past, think deeply about the thought of now,” said Selvaraghavan in the viral video.
His fans called the director a great mentor in both cinema and life. “SELVARAGHAVAN SIR: A Great Mentor In Both Cinema And Life. Love You Thalaivaaa,” wrote one of the users. Many of his fans also inquired about the sequel to Aavirathil Oruvan, which he announced to direct with Dhanush in lead role.
Selvaraghavan has given a series of romantic dramas like Kaadhal Kondein, 7G Rainbow Colony, Pudhupettai and Mayakkam Enna. Most of his films starred Dhanush in the lead role and Yuvan Shankar Raja as the music composer. He is the older brother of Dhanush. His directorial journey officially started with the film Kaadhal Kondein. It starred Dhanush, Sonia Agarwal and Sudeep Sarangi in the lead roles. It was released in 2003.
Selvaraghavan’s first directorial was Thulluvadho Ilamai released a year before. He was not credited with direction for distribution reasons. His father, Kasthuru Raja was credited for the same. He began his acting journey with Thalapathy Vijay’s Beast.
