Here's How Veteran South Actress Raasi Found Love

Raasi was one of the leading actresses of Telugu and Tamil film industries in the ’90s. With over ten movies each in 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000, the actress proved her mettle as an emerging celebrity in the Telugu and Tamil film industry. She is credited as Manthra in Malayalam and Tamil films. She started at a very young age with the Telugu film, Mamatala Kovella in 1989. She grabbed her first lead role in the Tamil film with Priyam in 1996. It was directed by N Pandian and starred Arun Vijay and Manthra in the lead roles. She appeared in several hit films like Subhakanshalu, Gokulamlo Seeta and Pelli Pandiri. She made her television debut in the Telugu soap operas Girija Kalyanam (2020) and Janaki Kalaganaledu (2021). The actress took a break from the entertainment industry after her marriage. Raasi got hitched to assistant director Sri Muni in 2005. With wealthy businessmen lined up for marriage, the actress chose the assistant director Sri Muni for marriage. They have shared their love story with the media.

Sri Muni worked as an assistant director for numerous films starring Raasi. During the filming, love blossomed between the two. At the same, Raasi’s father passed away which made the duo emotionally closer. In an interview with Sakshi TV, the actress said that Sri Muni proposed after her father’s death. Confused by the sudden proposal, the actress later convinced her family of the marriage. After her marriage, the actress did only one film titled Suyetchai MLA before taking a long break from the cinema industry in 2006. She made a comeback with the film Onbadhule Guru after 7 years. It was directed by PT Selvakumar.

Later, Sri Muni directed a film titled Lanka with Raasi in the lead role in 2017. It turned out to be a disaster at the box office. It was the last appearance of the actress on the silver screens. The couple has a daughter named Rithima. During the lockdown, Raasi started her own YouTube channel and started sharing cooking recipes. Raasi has supposedly signed two big films but has not revealed the details yet.
