'I Don’t Know...': Rajinikanth Breaks Silence On Hema Committee Report Gripping Malayalam Film Industry
Rajinikanth has said that he has no idea about the Hema Committee Report which highlights issues like sexual assaults in the Malayalam Film Industry.

Rajinikanth has reacted to the Hema Committee report, which highlights issues like sexual harassment, lack of basic facilities, gender bias, and pay disparities in the Malayalam film industry. The findings and subsequent allegations of sexual assault has left the Malayalam industry in shock. Megastar Rajinikanth was recently asked to comment on it.

Rajinikanth was seen at Chennai airport on Sunday, where reporters swarmed his car to ask about his upcoming film Coolie and other topics. While he happily discussed most things, he seemed totally unaware of the Hema Committee report that has sent ripples across the Malayalam film industry and the whole nation.

In a Polimer News video, when asked about setting up a committee to look into exploitation in the Tamil film industry, Rajinikanth looked confused and asked for the question to be repeated. After hearing “Hema Committee, Malayalam,” he smiled and said, “I don’t know…I don’t know anything about that. Sorry.”

Meanwhile, Mohanlal, actor and former president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), recently resigned from his position amid growing sexual assault allegations in the Malayalam film industry. His resignation, along with that of the entire 17-member executive committee, came after the release of the Hema Committee report, which revealed rampant sexual exploitation in the industry.

Reflecting on his role, he added, “I was AMMA president for the last two terms. The entire Malayalam cinema is answerable to the Hema Committee report. What we are seeing is that all questions are directed only at AMMA. AMMA cannot give answers to all the questions. Everybody should be asked these questions. This is a very hard-working industry. A lot of people are involved in this, but not everyone is to be blamed in this. The responsible ones will be punished.”

Mammootty, too, broke his silence about the Hema Committee Report and the sexual harassment cases in the Kerala Film Industry. Taking to Facebook, the Malayalam superstar welcomed the report and extended his support to the changes that need to be brought about to make the industry a better place to work in.
