Aparna, a popular anchor and actress in the Kannada entertainment industry has passed away after a two-year-long battle with lung cancer. She breathed her last at her home in Banashankari in Bengaluru at 57. Her husband Nagaraj Vasthare shared the heartbreaking news in a video on social media and shared that Aparna was in the fourth stage of cancer.

Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah has mourned the death of Aparna. Saddened by the news of Aparna’s death, he posted on X account that her soul may rest in peace.

“Sadly, a versatile talent who was a household name in the country for his elegant anchoring in Kannada on the programs of major Kannada channels and at government functions has left us so soon”, he tweeted. “I pray for the soul of the late Aparna that she rests in peace and her family members find the strength to bear her grief”, he added.

Aparna’s career began with her role in the 1984 film Masanada Hoovu directed by Puttanna Kanagal. She quickly established herself as a talented actress and acted in numerous films including the popular Inspector Vikram starring Shiva Rajkumar. In the 1990s, she switched from acting to anchoring, thus starting a new chapter in her professional life.

A popular anchor, Aparna worked in several television shows, particularly on Chandana TV, and gained a huge fan following. Her versatility also extended to roles as a radio presenter and comedian, making her a well-known figure on the small screen. She also acted in popular television serials like Moodala Mane and Mukta.

Aparna’s death is a huge loss to the Kannada entertainment industry and her fans and colleagues are mourning her dearly. She leaves behind a legacy of memorable performances and a profound impact on the industry.
