Jagga Jassos co-stars, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are currently making headlines for their bitter-sweet chemistry at various interviews and promotional events. The former flames of B-Town, as admitted by Katina herself, share a 'tu-tu-main-main' relationship and it is their ease with one another that had held the audience captive, on and off the screen.
Recently, the actor spoke to CNN-News18's Rajeev Masand and discussed everything, from the film's delay to their vibes on the film and how they kept their professional spirits high, after their very public break-up.
Jagga Jasoos is better Than Barfi
Jagga Jassos had been in production for the last three years, now the film is just weeks away from its release and Ranbir Kapoor has full faith in the film. Talking about Anurag Basu's working style, Kapoor says, "I have seen Basu's journey from the first print to the last cut and looking at it all I can confidently say that Basu had made a better film than Barfi.
Katrina adds, "I have had a good feeling about the film everytime I was on set. Although there were people laughing at us, pointing at us asking us if we are out of our minds, on sets we had a good feeling like we were doing something interesting.
Katrina Doesn't Give Space
During the making of the film, Ranbir recalls, that he and Katrina were always up to something. "Usually what happens with actors is when you give your shot, you retire to your respective space. Katrina doesn't give you space. So if want to do your method acting, I always had this voiceover going on, with her constantly belittling my process and then I used to join in."
When Katrina discussed her Highlight Moment from the film
Talking about her 'best' moment from the film Katrina quips, "My minion costume is the highlight moment in my career, where I realised that I just dressed as a minion." According to the actress, it was an accident and it was Basu's daughter who pointed it out to her. "Dada's daughter showed me on the internet where everyone has put my yellow shirt-dungri picture and a minion alongside. It was the highlight of my year."
I lost hope many times
Ranbir, who is the producer of the film had a hard time because of the long production of the film. "There was always some dilemma about of the film, which killed your confidence and made you insecure."
Third time is the Charm
Interestingly, Katrina was supposed to work with Anurag Basu in Saya and later in Barfi but things didn't work out. "Saya, I was supposed to do but then I was thrown out of the film. Barfi, we had a long chat about it but it never turned out to be in any favour." Ranbir also revealed that Katrina was offered Yahan bu Shoojit Sircar, which ultimately went to Minissha Lamba.
It doesn't matter what is being said, what matters is how I feel
Talking about their relationship post-breakup, both the actors admitted to acting professionally. However, both of them have a different take on it. Ranbir says, "It reminds me of Mera Naam Joker, it doesn't matter what I feel-
anger, jealousy, anxiousness- once you have that grease paint on, you are there to entertain."
Contradicting Ranbir's thought process, Katrina says, "For me, it doesn't matter what people say about you, what matters is how I feel about it. When I've gone through difficult times in my life what matters to me is the truth. There are tough times, there are good times and you learn to go through them all, eventually.
Ranbir is Not a Producer
Katrina refuses to call Ranbir a producer because according to her the job of a producer is to handhold the film and solve problems of the actors on-set, however, the actress feels Ranbir did any of it. Adding to it she says, "I don't think he even pretended to do all the 'producer stuff', which is fine."
Defending himself, Ranbir says, "I think the only producer thing I've done in the film is being the cushion between Disney and Anurag Basu." The actor added that he won't be producing any film in the future, not because his first experience has scared him but because he has discovered that being a producer is not something he enjoys.
You think I'm not a good person, that's why you won't cast me
When asked if Katrina plans to produce any film, the actress replied in affirmative. However, she gave a vague reply on whether she would cast Ranbir in any of her films. Commenting on her reaction, Ranbir quips, "I think I'm fairly good at my job, the only reason you wouldn't cast me is that I'm not a good human being."
Diverting the conversation Katrina points out that they aren't in for a psychiatric session and they can have it when cameras aren't rolling.
Directed by Basu, Jagga Jasoos is all set to release on July 14.
