Joo Ji-hoon and Han Hyo-joo are set to star in the new Disney+ series Blood Free, previously known as Dominant Species, which is scheduled to premiere soon. The upcoming show, a suspense thriller, follows Yoon Ja Yoo (played by Han Hyo-joo), the CEO of the genetic engineering enterprise Blood Free, as she introduces a new era of artificially cultured meat in 2025. Woo Chae Woon (played by Joo Ji-hoon), a retired officer-turned-guard, deliberately approaches her, and they find themselves caught up in a mysterious death and incidents that follow.
Blood Free is penned by screenwriter Lee Soo Yeon, known for works like Forest of Secrets (also known as Stranger) and Grid, and directed by Park Cheol Han of Grid, which has raised anticipation for their new collaboration on this suspense thriller.
The teaser poster, which has recently been released, features the concept of artificially cultured meat prominently.
The text on the poster asks, “Will you join us in this age of artificially cultured meat?” The image shows lab-grown meat with the logo of Blood Free, providing a glimpse into the story’s theme.

Han Hyo-joo, recipient of the Grand Bell Award for Best Actress in a Series for Disney+’s Moving, takes the lead as Yoon Yu-ja, the CEO of the biotechnology giant group.
Apart from Joo Ji-hoon and Han Hyo-joo, Blood Free boasts a star-studded cast. Lee Hee Joon will portray Prime Minister Sun Woo Jae, who aims to take over Blood Free Group. Lee Moo Saeng will play On San, the head of the research center and a founding member of Blood Free Group who has been friends with Yoon Ja Yoo for 20 years. Kim Sang Ho will take on the role of Kim Shin Goo, a biotechnologist who develops the key technology of artificially cultured meat. Additionally, Jeon Suk Ho will play Blood Free Group’s IT expert Seo Hee, while Park Ji Yeon will play BF Group’s planning director Jung Hae Deun.
Blood Free is set to premiere on April 10 on Disney+.
