On August 21, the teaser was out. The Hansal Mehta directorial film promised to be a gripping thriller. The film premiered at the Jio MAMI Festival last year and after a long wait, it is finally getting its theatrical release. The film is taking the slot left empty by Sara Ali Khan’s Metro In Dino, which also stars Aditya Roy Kapur.
In a career first, Kareena Kapoor Khan will be seen as a detective in the film. This Hansal Mehta film is a crime drama and its teaser has only increased the anticipation surrounding the film. As per the teaser, Kareena Kapoor’s character loses her child and in dealing with her grief, she ventures on to become a detective.
Previously, Kareena talked about her role in the movie when she said, “I think I loved playing that part because this is the first time I am playing a detective, and I am a huge crime drama fan.” The actress further admitted that playing the cop was difficult since the character’s grief made her uncomfortable. However, she also called it a “career-defining role for me and one of my best characters.”
Besides Kareena Kapoor Khan, The Buckingham Murders also stars Ash Tandon, Ranveer Brar, and Keith Allen.
The Buckingham Murders garnered acclaim from the crowd at its global premiere at the BFI London Film Festival 2023. It was also screened at the 2023 Mumbai Film Festival at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in October.
