While the makers had dropped the trailer of Ajay Devgn’s much-awaited film, Maidaan last month, they have released a second, final trailer today. Maidaan is based on football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, under whose leadership the Indian football team won the Asian Games in 1951 and 1962. The film was delayed multiple times despite the shoot being wrapped. Now, the final trailer of the film has been released.
It opens with Priyamani telling Ajay Devgn that only he thinks that the Indian football team will win at the Asian Games. We then get glimpses of Ajay trying to recruit and coach his team amid the myriad challenges that come his way.
Watch the trailer here:
Ajay Devgn will be essaying the role of Syed Abdul Rahim in the film to tell the story of this unsung hero who was responsible for taking Indian football to new heights and winning accolades for the country. The team at that time comprised illustrious players like Chunni Goswami, PK Banerjee, Balaram, Franco, and Arun Ghosh.
Talking about the film, producer Boney Kapoor had earlier said, “I was amazed that not many are aware of someone as significant as Syed Abdul Rahim. He’s an unsung hero whose achievements must be saluted. His team had heroes like Chunni Goswami, PK Banerjee, Balaram, Franco, and Arun Ghosh. It takes someone like Ajay Devgn to play Syed Abdul Rahim. With him on board, I can just hope that our film inspires youngsters to play football and India soon to bring the World Cup home." The film will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.
The Ajay Devgn starter is scheduled to be released on April 10. The film will clash with Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s upcoming film, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan is all set to release on Eid.
