As part of her preparations for the upcoming Presidential elections, Vice President Kamala Harris is travelling across the U.S. and recently celebrated her 60th birthday with visits to two churches in Georgia. She began her day at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Stonecrest, followed by a stop at Divine Faith Ministries International in Jonesboro. Music legend Stevie Wonder also joined the event, encouraging attendees to vote and performing a special rendition of his “Happy Birthday” song for Kamala. The church visits were part of her “Souls to the Polls” initiative, aimed at mobilizing Black voters.
According to the Associated Press, after Stevie Wonder finished singing his special rendition of “Happy Birthday,” Vice President Kamala Harris became emotional, expressing her deep admiration for the legendary singer. Stevie Wonder, in a heartfelt moment, gently urged her not to cry and encouraged the crowd to take action by voting, emphasizing how their participation can shape the future. Kamala later shared that having Stevie Wonder sing for her was a dream come true, fulfilling a long-standing bucket list item. In addition to Happy Birthday, Stevie Wonder also performed Higher Ground and Bob Marley’s Redemption Song.
This isn’t the first time Stevie Wonder has shown his support for Kamala Harris. Earlier, he made a surprise appearance at the Democratic National Convention in August, where he performed his iconic 1973 hit, Higher Ground. His ongoing support for Harris has been a notable part of her journey, as the music legend continues to advocate for voter participation and civil rights, aligning with the values Harris represents in her political career.

Meanwhile, at the Georgia church, speaking with the crowd, Vice President Kamala Harris said, “There is so much at stake right now. Our strength is not based on who we beat down, as some would try to suggest. Our strength is based on who we lift up. And that spirit is very much at stake in these next 16 days.”
The US presidential election day is just around the corner, several Hollywood celebrities have stepped forward to show their support for Kamala Harris. Well-known figures such as Taylor Swift, George Clooney and Oprah Winfrey, among others, have publicly endorsed her in recent months.
Donald Trump, representing the Republican Party, is campaigning for re-election in an attempt to secure a second, non-consecutive term as president. This follows his defeat by Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
