On the festive occasion of Dusshera, director Anil Sharma, known for Gadar 2, officially announced his next venture, Vanvaas. The film stars his son, Utkarsh Sharma, alongside Nana Patekar in leading roles. Fans have already been eagerly anticipating this “upcoming emotional rollercoaster ride.” Just days after the announcement, the filmmakers confirmed that Vanvaas will release in theaters on December 20, 2024.
Today, a joint post on Instagram featured Gadar 2 director Anil Sharma, Utkarsh Sharma, Nana Patekar, Rajpal Yadav, Simratt Kaur Randhawa, and Zee Studios. The caption read, “Iss Christmas, apno ko pehchaniye. Anil Sharma, brings to you his next emotional rollercoaster ride! #Vanvaas releasing 20th December, in cinemas near you.”
The film’s poster showcases Nana Patekar and Utkarsh Sharma standing on a street, arms wrapped around each other’s shoulders, exuding a sense of camaraderie. Nana Patekar sports a casual blazer with pants, a hat, and a loose tie while holding a bag. Beside him, Utkarsh Sharma appears in a vest, his shirt unbuttoned, holding a bottle. Previously, in an interview with Pinkvilla, Anil Sharma described the film as an “emotional Gadar” for modern times. He elaborated, “Banaras mein hai, Kumbh hai aur bahut hi emotional trauma hai. Ye journey of life hai, har aadmi ka jeevan hai…har aadmi se connect karega (It is set in the backdrop of Banaras, includes Kumbh. It is an emotional trauma and journey of life which every individual will be able to connect).”
Vanvaas is written, produced, and directed by Anil Sharma, a filmmaker renowned for his work on the Gadar franchise and Apne. It is being developed under the banner of Anil Sharma Productions.
