Poonam Pandey is alive. The Lock Upp fame finally came out in a video statement on Saturday morning and clarified that she is not dead. In the video, Poonam argued that the motive of her death news was to create awareness regarding cervical cancer.
“I am alive. I did not die because of cervical cancer. Unfortunately, I cannot say that about those hundreds and thousands of women who have lost their lives because of cervical cancer. It is not because they couldn’t do anything about it but because they had no idea what to do about it. I am here to tell you that, unlike other cancers, cervical cancer is preventable. All you have to do is, you have to get your tests done and you have to get HPV vaccine,” she said.
Her estranged husband Sam Bombay, when asked if he was surprised that Poonam faked her own death, said to HT, “No. I’m delighted she did. She is alive. That’s enough for me. Alhamdullilah.” He went on to say, “When I heard the news, I felt nothing in my heart. There was no sense of loss. And I thought this can’t be. Why do I feel nothing? Because when you’re connected, you feel everything. I think about her (Poonam Pandey) every day. And, I pray for her every day. If something was wrong, I’d know.”
Throwing light on their marital status, he cleared the air and said, “No, we are not divorced, yet. I am happy she is still alive. She has a lot to contribute,” adding, “If someone raises awareness about an issue with complete disregard for their fame or image, let’s respect that. Poonam Pandey is timeless. She is the boldest Indian woman. Several years from now, she’ll be celebrated.”
Poonam Pandey’s ‘death’ news was first announced in a post shared on her official Instagram handle on Friday, February 2.
