Vikraman’s Pudhu Vasantham film was groundbreaking in portraying that young men and women could share a platonic friendship and explore relationships beyond physical intimacy. In a similar vein, the upcoming film Nalla Perai Vanga Vendum Pillaigale narrates the journey of two young men and three young women. Director Prasad Ramar embarked on his cinematic journey with Siddharth’s Enakkul Oruvan, produced by CV Kumar under Thirukumaran Entertainment.
Notably recognised for the spiritual documentary Arunagiri Perumale, Prasad Ramar’s Nalla Perai Vanga Vendum Pillaigale is produced by the popular singer-composer Pradeep Kumar under his banner Poorva Productions.
The film, which commenced production in 2018, focuses on the lives of young individuals in a small town. Its narrative revolves around a journey along the road. Two young men travel from Madurai to Mayavaram via Tanjore, Pudukottai, and Kumbakonam. Along the way, a girl joins them before departing in Poombukar. Through its storyline, the film sheds light on the challenges faced by the younger generation in a society undergoing rapid transformation and explores society’s attitudes towards them.
Nalla Perai Vanga Vendum Pillaigale was shot over a period of 42 days in Madurai and Mayavaram. Centaur Pandian and Preethi Karan make their debut as the lead actors, alongside Thavithu Suresh Mathiyalagan, Purnima Ravi, Tamil Selvi, Shivani Keerthy, Abhishek Raju, Malik, Nagaraj, SK Das, M Amudharani, Minu Valentina, and others in supporting roles.
Director Prasad Ram crafted the story and screenplay, while Pradeep Kumar composed, produced, and wrote the songs for the film. Cinematography is handled by Uday Thangavel. With shooting and post-production completed, the film is scheduled for release in March 2024.
Prasad Ramar is a prominent figure in the South Indian film industry, known for his work as a director and scriptwriter, particularly in Tamil cinema. He has been involved in numerous notable projects, having assisted on various film projects and scripts, including several short films. His films have also gained recognition beyond the Tamil industry, with some being dubbed into other languages.
Prasad is also known for his contribution to the film Pizza, where he served as one of the key story writers alongside Karthik Subbaraj. Released in 2012, Pizza stars Vijay Sethupathi and Remya Nambeesan in the lead roles. The film received a nomination for ‘Best Film’ at the South Indian International Movie Awards.
