Deadpool & Wolverine, which hit theatres last week, continues to create buzz and break box office records. While the film itself is packed with wild action sequences and jaw-dropping cameos, the press tour featuring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman has been equally entertaining. Reynolds, known for his humour, continued to poke fun and criticise at his past superhero film, DC’s Green Lantern. In a recent Vanity Fair interview, Reynolds took a lie detector test for fun and Hugh asked if he had ever watched the movie with his family, including with his wife, Blake Lively and four kids. In classic Reynolds fashion, he sarcastically claimed he would rather watch Paw Patrol on repeat than revisit the film.
Listening to the question, Reynolds initially laughed out loud and holding his giggles, he said, “I would actually, genuinely rather watch just a f**king 24 hour marathon of Paw Patrol. But I have not watched as a family. My kids have seen the trailer, I saw the movie recently. Yeah, there was a, what do you want to call it, it was called a global pandemic and during that time I’d finished Netflix, finished HBO Max, finished every streaming platform that exists. I had watched all the fucking Bob Ross specials in backwards even, by the way, which is a shot for shot remake of The Exorcist and time to watch the Green Lantern. I watched Green lantern. I was a little drunk. That’s also truthful.”
Despite Ryan Reynolds’ negative views on Green Lantern, the actor had only one positive experience, as he met the love of life, Blake Lively. The couple first crossed paths while filming the superhero movie, started dating after its release and decided to marry in September 2012.
Reynolds played the titular character, which was criticised for its script, visual effects and variation from the source material. Despite the film’s poor response, DC is set to revive the character under James Gunn’s leadership. The filmmaker has plans to bring the Green Lantern back in the 2025 Superman movie and also feature him in HBO’s upcoming Lanterns series.
Currently, Ryan Reynolds is getting all the love for Deadpool & Wolverine, for which he brought Hugh Jackman back from retirement to play the beloved X-Men character, Logan. Directed by Shawn Levy, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie also stars, Matthew Macfadyen, Morena Baccarin, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Stefan Kapicic, Aaron Stanford, Brianna Hildebrand, Tyler Mane, Rob Delaney, Lewis Tan, Jason Flemyng, Kelly Hu and Ray Park. The movie also features special cameos of Dafne Keen, Jennifer Garner, Channing Tatum, Wesley Snipes, Chris Evans and Henry Cavill.
