If you have to make a list of Prabhas’ most underrated films, Saaho would undoubtedly be at the top. Released five years ago, the film didn’t perform particularly well in Telugu but the Hindi version became a blockbuster hit. Audiences from all across the country praised the film for its fine storyline and the performance of each actor. Directed by Sujeeth, the fans reportedly waited eagerly for the release of this film. When it was released in the theatres, the first week didn’t go well. Many people labelled the film as a flop but it gained prominence after the start of the second week. People gather in huge numbers to watch the film.
Many people mentioned that they failed to understand the storyline as it was confusing but after watching it for the second or third time they were blown away. The film was filled with intense action that captivated the audience. Released on August 30, 2019, it completed its 5 years yesterday.
Talking about the storyline of the film, Narantak Roy is a leader of Roy Group, a corporate company and the world’s biggest crime syndicate that governs Waaji City, a fictional metropolitan area. While he visits the city of Mumbai, he gets killed in a deliberate car crash. The story continues as the other leaders fight to take the place of Ray after his death. Then Vishwank Roy, son of Narantak enters the scene, becomes the city’s leader and starts to find out the real perpetrators behind Roy’s death. Then a huge theft took place in Mumbai, which shook everyone. Police officer Ashok Chakravarthy starts to investigate and finds some hidden secrets that can cause huge trouble.
As the film continues, the other officers find out that the real thief Saaho was no one but Ashok Chakravarthy himself. The police officials were investigating Jai, who was reportedly the real police officer. In between the chaos, the story continues as Saaho travels to Austria.
The character of Saaho was portrayed by Prabhas. Made with a budget of Rs 350 crore, the film recorded a worldwide box-office collection of Rs 451 crore. The film also featured actors like Shraddha Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Murli Sharma and Chunky Pandey. It is available on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
