Shah Rukh Khan to Start Filming Rakesh Sharma Biopic Three Months Earlier Than Schedule
Shah Rukh Khan was to reportedly begin shooting in May but he is now keen on starting in February.

It looks like Shah Rukh Khan wants to waste no time in mulling over the failure of his latest outing Zero. The 53-year-old superstar is diving dead long into his next project, a biopic on former Air Force pilot Rakesh Sharma, three months earlier than was planned.

According to a Mid-Day report, Shah Rukh was to begin shooting the film—tentatively titled Salute—in May. However, he is now keen on starting in February, wanting to avoid wearing heavy costumes in the summer months. “The project is expensive. In a bid to ensure that the film doesn't exceed the budget, Siddharth Roy Kapoor (the film’s producer) and Shah Rukh find it imperative to start shooting by February,” Mid-Day quoted an unnamed source.

“Doing so will help them wrap up the main schedule before summer. Given that certain crucial scenes must be filmed outdoors, the duo felt shooting in the bulky costumes would be impossible during those months," the source added.

Initial shoot will start at Mumbai’s Film City. "Construction work for the creation of a huge set has already commenced at Film City," the source said.

Written by Anjum Rajabali, Salute will be directed by Mahesh Mathai and produced by Kapur and Ronnie Screwvala. Aamir Khan was first approached for the project, but he suggested Shah Rukh’s name instead for the role, saying he was better suited for it.

Thanking him, Shah Rukh had earlier told Deccan Chronicle, “I thank Aamir who was to do the film for calling me and telling me about the role as it would suit me. Whenever I get the time, I will try and spend time with him (Rakesh Sharma).”
