The shooting of Ranbir Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt starrer Shamshera will start in Mumbai on Saturday. As per reports, a puja ceremony was held for Yash Raj Films’ next production and it was attended by the starcast and director Karan Malhotra. However, Sanjay Dutt did not attend the puja as he was out of town.
The first look of the film was released earlier this year. In the film, the Bollywood heartthrob will be seen in a never-seen-before avatar of a dacoit as the film's tagline goes, "Karam Se Dacait... Dharam Se Azaad."

The film is produced by Aditya Chopra and it is Ranbir's third collaboration with YRF films after Bachna Ae Haseeno and Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year.
The film is slated to release on 31 July 2020.
