Sujoy Ghosh shared his thoughts on Badla, particularly talking about Amitabh Bachchan's dedication as he rehearsed multiple times while the crew started to tire.

Sujoy Ghosh made a strong comeback with his 2019 mystery thriller Badla, after the disappointment of his 2016 film Teen. This was Ghosh’s eighth movie and his fourth hit. Made on a budget of Rs 20 crore, Badla earned an impressive Rs 140 crore worldwide. The film starred Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu and Amrita Singh. Recently, Sujoy Ghosh shared his thoughts on the filming, particularly talking about Amitabh Bachchan’s dedication as he rehearsed multiple times while the crew started to tire.

In an interview with Mashable India, Sujoy Ghosh saw a photo of himself with Amitabh Bachchan from the Badla set. He recalled, “Sir has been a significant figure in my life. In this scene, he was rehearsing for what might have been the 16th or 17th time. Everyone else was exhausted and had dozed off; Taapsee had nearly fainted in a corner. But sir insisted, ‘Let’s do this,’ and kept rehearsing.”

Looking back at how Badla came to be, Sujoy explained that the film happened because of Taapsee Pannu. “The film happened because of Taapsee. She originally brought the script to me, but I initially declined to direct it. Later, Akshay and Sunil approached me with the same project, saying they were making changes. I agreed to direct it on the condition that I could cast Amit ji and rewrite the script. Once they agreed, I took on the project,” he said.

Badla is a 2019 Indian mystery thriller directed by Sujoy Ghosh, featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu in lead roles. The film follows Naina Sethi, a successful entrepreneur accused of murdering her lover, who seeks the help of a seasoned lawyer, Vikram Sinha. As they delve into the case, a web of deceit and unexpected twists unfolds. Based on the Spanish film Contratiempo, Badla was produced on a budget of Rs 20 crore and grossed around Rs 140 crore worldwide. It received praise for its engaging screenplay and strong performances, particularly from Bachchan, making it a standout entry in the mystery thriller genre.
