The couple, who play lead roles in the show Tell Me Lies, was spotted together in New York City on Friday. Van Patten, 27, sported a dark blue shirt with matching pants, paired with orange Adidas trainers and carried a red bag. Jackson White, 28, kept it casual with a dark T-shirt and jeans. Rumours about their off-screen romance have been in the air since they started working together on Tell Me Lies. However, it wasn’t until their joint interview with ABC News that they confirmed their relationship.
“It’s amazing. We had our first fight on camera,” Van Patten shared during an interview, which ABC posted on TikTok on August 28. “We got it out of the way, yeah,” she reportedly added.

According to People, Jackson White also opened up about how their real-life connection influences their work on the show. “It’s cool, we get to bring a lot of freedom and safety and we get to do whatever we want with each other because there’s so much trust there,” he said. Van Patten agreed. “It’s so much easier to be vulnerable and be open and be mean to each other on-camera because we’ve built such a safe, secure bubble,” she added.
Although this was the first time the duo publicly acknowledged their romance, they’ve spoken about their feelings before. In 2022, Jackson White admitted on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast that he had “such a crush” on Van Patten and hoped they would date.
“She is the coolest, most grounded, amazing person IRL that you’ll ever meet,” White said back in 2022. “She was the fearless leader on our show. She’s 25 years old and runs a set like she’s been doing this for 30 years. She’s so consistent and good at this,” he added, reports People magazine.
Tell Me Lies, created by Meaghan Oppenheimer and adapted from Carola Lovering’s novel, delves into the tumultuous relationship between college students Lucy Albright, played by Van Patten, and Stephen DeMarco, portrayed by Jackson White.
Season 2 of Tell Me Lies will kick off with its first two episodes on Wednesday, September 4, on Hulu, with subsequent episodes released weekly.
