Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah fame actress Jennifer Mistry has opened up about her sister’s death. Jennifer’s sister Dimple was a special needs person, who breathed her last on April 13. She was 45.

Remembering her sister, Jennifer told India Today that the family could not provide her with better treatment because of a lack of funds. “It’s disheartening to face so many difficulties at such short intervals. First, my brother passed away around two years back, then the entire fiasco around Taarak Mehta exit, and now my sister. She was closest to me, and it was also because of a lack of funds that we could not provide her better facilities,” she said.

“But I believe in the journey of soul and it was maybe her time to leave. My mother is really affected and we are trying to be there for each other,” she added.

Previously, Jennifer also took to her Instagram stories to pay tribute to her sister. “Life will be unimaginable without you my darling sister Dimple. Love you. Miss you. You taught us how to live every moment joyfully and keep smiling no matter what. RIP (sic),” she wrote.

Jennifer Mistry used to play the role of Mrs Roshan Sodhi in TMKOC. However, she left the show in 2023 and later filed a complaint against Asit Kumarr Modi, the show’s Project Head Sohail Ramani and executive producer Jatin Bajaj for alleged sexual harassment at the workplace. The three were booked under sections 354 and 509 (Assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

In February this year, Jennifer won the case against Asit Modi. Announcing the verdict in favour of the actress, the court ordered Asit Kumarr Modi to clear her outstanding dues and further asked him to pay her Rs 5 lakh as compensation. However, no punishment was given to Sohail Ramani and Jatin Bajaj.

However, Jennifer further expressed disappointment with the verdict and argued that Rs 5 lakh “can not be the amount to be paid for causing mental trauma to a person for one entire year.”
