Vijay Sethupathi Denies Rejecting A Role In Allu Arjun's Pushpa: The Rise
Denying rejecting any role in Allu Arjun's Pushpa: The Rise, Vijay Sethupathi said that one should not always speak the truth.

Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi has a sizable fan following in the Telugu-speaking states. The 2021 romantic drama Uppena, where Vijay Sethupathi played Krithi Shetty’s father, endeared him to the Telugu audience and he received much praise for his role. Before that, he had also worked in Chiranjeevi’s Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy.

Considering his fan following in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, one may wonder why he has not been offered any Telugu project since Uppena but Vijay Sethupathi may probably have turned down a major Telugu project. And by major, we mean a project as big as Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rise. There have long been rumours that Vijay Sethupathi was offered a role in Pushpa: The Rise and the actor has recently addressed the rumours.

The actor is currently at the top of his game with the big success of his film Maharaja. To celebrate the film’s success in Telugu, the team planned a press meet with the Telugu film media. During this, one of the reporters asked the actor if he rejected a role in Pushpa: The Rise.

Although Vijay Sethupathi initially denied being offered a role in the film, he followed it up with a confusing and quirky statement, which has left fans scratching their heads in confusion. The actor said, “No, I did not reject the role,” he said, and then added, “But, you should not always speak the truth. It is not good for you, Sir. Sometimes, lying is good.”

This response has stumped the media as well as fans and one is left guessing whether the actor indeed rejected a role in the film. During the time Pushpa: The Rise was released, it was widely circulated that Vijay Sethupathi had turned down the role ultimately played by Fahadh Faasil. Meanwhile, Maharaja is an action drama featuring Vijay Sethupathi, Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, and others in key roles. The film was written and directed by Nithilan Swaminathan and produced by Jagadish Palanisamy under the Route production house.
